Who else wants to get more comments on their blog posts?

Stupid question… everyone likes to have more blog comments, right?

But wait..

Before getting into the details, first we will talk about why blog comments are lifeblood for any blog and why you need to focus more on blog comments when you have a new blog.

Why blog comments are important?

Blog Comments

  • Blog comments will improve your brand name
  • They help the bots to crawl your site often
  • New visitors of your blog will find it interesting when you get tons of comments
  • You can create great connections with your readers
  • Blog comments will give you motivation to write quality posts all the time
  • You can get tons of blog post ideas

How to get thoughtful comments on your blog posts?

Getting comments on your blog posts is NOT a hard part, but getting thoughtful and mind provoking comments is hard.

It’s REALLY not about the COUNT of your blog comments, it’s all about the QUALITY that people are talking about your posts in the comment section. So make sure you are not solely focusing on boosting your blog comments, instead encourage people to leaving insightful comments on your posts.

Write controversial posts

Prove an authority wrong.

This is the simplest way of getting more people attention and boosting comment count on your blog posts.

Few samples of controversial posts:

Once look at the above samples pattern. They all are controversial topics with great headlines, they will immediately make anyone in your niche to click on your links to read what you actually have written on the posts.

If they find it interesting, they will immediately share the contents and leave their opinions on the posts to create an interaction.

Note: While writing controversial posts, you will have more probability of getting negative and/or abusive comments. So prepare to answer them wisely and have backup points to convey your articles.

Make it easy to comment

Make the website, email and enter name fields auto-fill.

Blog Comments

NEVER use CAPTCHA’s if you want to get more comments. Forget getting comments on your posts if you use CAPTCHA’s.

Recently someone asked me why he is not able to get comments on his posts.

I checked out his blog to know the reasons behind not getting any comments on it.

Although he is not getting any comments on most of his posts, he is using CAPTCHA in his commenting system.

Why would people spend more time on entering captcha’s if they have to leave any comments on your posts?

Remember that, online readers are very lazy. They hardly read the blog posts, and only fraction of them will leave blog comments, if you make it hard, they will simply ignore commenting.

If possible, try using disqus commenting system. It’s one of the easiest commenting systems I’ve ever seen.

Embedding Facebook comments on your blogs is also a good option (especially if you have a new blog and want to get more comments).

Reward the blog commenters

Do you know the ONE secret that boosts your conversion rates, comments or product sales on your blogs?

It is… Rewarding your readers or customers.

Tell them how they will get benefited from your products, posts or anything else. Reward them with something.

Whenever you see a thoughtful comment on your posts, highlight them in the next posts by giving a link back to the commenter’s site.

Why?

This will show that you care your commenters.

The highlighted commenter will be interested in commenting more thoughtful comments even on your upcoming posts. And other readers of your blogs find it encouraging to leave great comments – one shot, two birds!

Here are few ways of rewarding your blog commenters.

  • Display a top commenter widget
  • Write guest post for the top commenter every month
  • Use CommentLuv plugin

Ask questions at the end

This is one of the most important elements that can attract more comments on your blogs.

Having a call to action (CTA) or asking questions at the end of the posts can help your readers to easily know what do you want from them.

Questions like;

  • please share your thoughts below
  • what do you think?
  • let me know if you’ve any questions regarding the post etc

will help your readers encouraging to leave comments.

Always use “over to you” or “your turn” terms at the end of the posts to let them easily know that you are calling your readers to take some action. This will surely boost your comments on the posts.

Give some breathe

Give some time before creating another post to bring more visibility to current posts.

If you create daily posts, give two to three days break and promote the heck out of them to bring more visibility to your posts. Then see the magic!!

If your contents are good, you will definitely notice a great increase on your comments.

Over to you:

If you have any more tips on increasing the comment count, please share them below. I’d love to hear your tips.
